Link to an External Page or Media Item

In the Rich Text Editor window:

Highlight the text that will become the external hyperlink
Select Hyperlink Manager icon in the Rich Text Editor ribbon

When the Hyperlink Manager window opens:

Type in the URL of the Web site
The Link Text field should be prepopulated with the highlighted text in the content editor.
For Target select from the preset group of options contained in the dropdown menu. Examples:
- New Window to open a separate window from the existing site
- Same Window to allow the linked page to open in the current browser
Select the type of Anchor link if appropriate
Type a description of the link in the Tooltip field to display the text upon mouse rollover
Click the OK button
Select the Accept button in the text editor window

Link to an Internal Page or Media item

In order to link to a page or file within Sitecore, the file must currently existing or be uploaded into the Content Tree or Media Library.

In the Content editor window:

Highlight the text that will become the internal hyperlink
Click the Insert Sitecore Link icon in the Rich Text Editor ribbon

When the Insert a Link window opens:

Select the appropriate tab at the top of the window:
- Internal Link tab - to create a hyperlink to a page residing in the Content Tree
- Media Items tab - to create a hyperlink to a media item residing in the Media Library
Navigate to the page or media item to be linked
Select the appropriate page or media icon
Scroll down to the bottom of Insert a Link window
Select the Link button
Click the OK button
Select the Accept button in the Rich Text Editor window
