Amanda Mortwedt Oh, 2013, United States

Why I chose Fletcher: I chose Fletcher for a number of reasons, but I'm so happy that Fletcher chose me! I was specifically looking for schools with an LLM program in the Boston area, and Fletcher really stood out to me from the start because of its international focus. I was completely blown away by Fletcher's admissions web page, accessibility of the admissions staff, and the personalized attention I received - whether it was through e-mails, web chats, or phone calls. I also heard about Fletcher from my International Law professor in law school, and coincidentally, my previous supervisor at the Advocates for Human Rights is a MALD alumnus! Everyone I met who knows about Fletcher spoke highly about it, and I really felt that Fletcher could be a place where I would be able to dig into my interests. Now that I'm here, I continue to be impressed by Fletcher's administrative services and organization, the incredibly interesting course offerings, and the outstanding professors. I can tell you that this is a great place for me and others with global interests.

A quintessential Fletcher scenario: I love that I've been able to meet Fletcher students and professors who know some of the same people I've met or worked with in other countries. Within the first week of getting to know people at Fletcher, I've met people who know my former colleagues in Hawaii, Minnesota, Cambodia, and Sri Lanka! It's a great experience meeting other students who have such diverse upbringings and interests. I can only guess what other surprise connections I'll make at Fletcher over the next year.
