Lisa De Bode, 2013, Belguim

On the flexibility of the curriculum: Fletcher's flexible (and amazing) curriculum allows me to combine my regional and thematic interests: the political systems and theories prevailing in the Middle East, balanced with more general philosophy and sociology classes. I can audit Arabic classes at Tufts University's Olin Center, which is right next to Fletcher, and can take courses at Harvard and Tufts graduate schools within my field of study.

How my experience at Fletcher has changed the way I look at the world: Academically, Fletcher has provided me with the basic political and sociological frameworks every aspiring social scientist needs to possess. Its rigor helped me embed my own world views in renowned scholar's theories. In addition, and more importantly, Fletcher's unique multicultural environment has provided me with the real-life proof (albeit on a mini-scale) of the world's inherent capability of peaceful cohabitation, overcoming cultural differences by focusing on our common human interests.
