Why I chose Fletcher: Besides excellent professors and teaching materials that are available to students at Fletcher, the wealth of knowledge and experience that each individual brings to Fletcher from a variety of settings has created an exhilarating learning atmosphere which is incomparable to any other program. I had a course in leadership in public and private organizations with Professor Martel in which he introduced a new perspective to the concept of leadership in public organizations that was much different from my previous understanding of leadership as a MBA graduate and from business point of view. Likewise, the interplay of public and private policy, national and global concerns, and political and economic issues are deeply explored in different classes. At Fletcher, I have gotten to know people from Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Latin America, each with a wealth of global and regional knowledge in the fields of energy policy, security studies, business, immigration law, etc. The varied regional focus and diverse fields of expertise of students at Fletcher creates an amazing web of knowledge for students to access. Fortunately, there are enough opportunities provided for students to get to know each other outside the classroom and learn invaluable lessons from others' professional experiences, matters that can hardly be covered in formal class environments.

On the flexibility of the curriculum: The flexibility of the curriculum allows me to bridge concepts I have been thinking about for a long time and gives me a formal setting in which I can connect them and apply them to practical global issues. I started my academic studies with engineering and later earned an MBA to integrate business concepts into my studies. Fletcher not only provides me with a multidisciplinary setting, but also equips me with an understanding of global policy issues affecting business and industrial decisions. The variety of courses offered at Fletcher combined with related research and student-run activities gives me the opportunity to experience multiple interdisciplinary issues and receive a clearer sense of my field of concentration.
