How I first learned about Fletcher: I was drawn to Fletcher by the enthusiasm and loyalty of its alumni to the program. I made an effort to speak with recent alumni from nearly every APSIA school, and I quickly noticed an enthusiasm gap. While recent alumni from every program told me how they had gained a great deal from their graduate programs, Fletcher alumni spoke glowingly about the curriculum and their overall experience. Fletcher also took the time to have recent alumni in my fields of interest contact me and speak to me at length about the school.

How my experience at Fletcher has changed the way I look at the world: I came to Fletcher with a desire to broaden my understanding of international security studies. Before coming to Fletcher, I felt as if I had begun to view developments in international security in a narrow sense. I wanted to explore how political disenfranchisement, socio-economic factors, and lack of host country capacity to provide the basic services of a state and to resolve disputes amongst its people could be at play as well. Fletcher’s curriculum has enabled me to explore these determinants of security while providing me the flexibility to continue pursuing my main areas of interest.
