Why I chose Fletcher: I chose Fletcher because it was the only school I truly felt confident would give me the experience and skills I need to continuously progress in the professional world. When I made the decision to go back to graduate school, I had spent years living and working in rural Thailand, and had to rely on word of mouth to get a feel for the prospective programs and what they offered. Without even looking, I began to meet Fletcher alumni, hear about friends who knew of Fletcher students doing amazing work, and I even stumbled upon Fletcher in the biography of an inspiring leader in my field. Now that I’m at the source of that far-reaching and dynamic community, I am not the least bit surprised. At Fletcher I’m surrounded by fellow students who compose a completely unique blend of die-hard innovators, upper-level professionals, and passionate leaders, with a breadth and depth of experience that no other school could offer.

On the curriculum:
The flexibility of Fletcher’s curriculum gives me the ability to specialize and focus my studies like no other school can. I came to Fletcher after working in economics policy research, knowing that is what I wanted to return to when I graduate. By not being encumbered by specific course demands, I’ve been able to make every class count towards honing my interests in the fields that matter to me. On the flip side, the breadth requirement has led me to discover and develop skills I wouldn’t have otherwise encountered, and which will only strengthen my ability to focus on the field of policy research!
