Symeon Tegos, 2014, Greece

On the MA: After serving as a career diplomat for the last 13 years, I felt that it was time to "take some distance" and try to revisit/ re-evaluate the concepts and synthesize the experiences I had so far. The mid-career Master of Arts (MA) of Fletcher School is the perfect tool for achieving that. It is designed for people like me and serves this exact purpose: to provide us with the context and the space to reinforce our careers and capitalize on our experience, interacting with experts in all fields of international affairs. I cannot thank enough the Andreas A David Foundation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece for their valuable support and this great opportunity.

How do you plan to use your experience at Fletcher to make a difference in the world? There is no doubt that the diplomatic career had seen significant changes the last decades. In order to keep up, diplomats have to go the extra mile again and again by continuously educating and exposing themselves to the new realities of our world. I see this MA and my Fletcher experience as a significant step in my professional life, and it will allow me to go even further in my professional goals and solidify my theoretical and practical knowledge of international relations evenly. The idea is to “connect the dots,”  find the missing pieces and be able to represent my country the best way possible.
