Executive Biography
R.P. Eddy is the founder and CEO of Ergo, an emerging markets strategy and geo-political intelligence firm which the Harvard Business Review recently praised as "breaking from industry orthodoxy with a radically new model." He is also a founding partner of Northern Gulf Partners, the premier merchant bank focusing on Iraq. Previously, he was a Managing Director at the Gerson Lehrman Group and a Team Leader at Monitor Group.
Prior to entering the private sector, Eddy served in various posts in the US Government national security arena and as a United Nations Diplomat. Eddy last served the UN as a Senior Policy Officer to the United Nations Secretary-General where he was one of the chief architects of the Global Fund to Prevent AIDS, TB, and Malaria, and was a group recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.
Prior to joining the UN, Eddy served variously as:
- Director of Counterterrorism at the White House National Security Council (NSC);
- Chief of Staff to the US Ambassador to the UN, Richard Holbrooke;
- Senior Advisor for Intelligence and Counterterrorism to the Secretary of Energy;
- Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary of State for International Organizations;
- A US representative to international negotiations including the International Criminal Court and negotiations in Angola and Rwanda.
In 2001, Eddy was honored as one of 100 World Economic Forum (Davos) Global Leaders for Tomorrow. He is the co-chair of Los Angeles City Counterterrorism Committee. Eddy is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations and was selected by the Center for American Progress and Foreign Policy Magazine as one of "100 of America's most esteemed terrorism and national security experts." He is also a Senior Fellow at the Madison Policy Forum.
RP has testified in front of the U.S. Congress, regularly appears on global news stations and has been a commentator on PBS: Charlie Rose, Fox News, CBS, CNN, NPR, and many others. His writing has been published in The Times of London and other outlets. Eddy has a B.Sc in Neuroscience from Brown University.
