"The Fletcher School is distinctive among leading professional schools of international affairs because of our collaborative, cross-disciplinary approach to exploring such challenges."
The successful international affairs professional has always been a good synthesist-someone who can perceive and understand the cultural, economic, and political forces behind an issue. The Fletcher School, the oldest graduate professional school of international affairs in the United States, was founded to develop this capacity in its students. Fletcher's curriculum has evolved in parallel with the changing needs of the world, and deals head on with complex issues such as international terrorism and the benefits and pitfalls of an increasingly market-driven global economy. A thorough and nuanced understanding of challenges that transcends borders, disciplines, and sectors is necessary to bring ideas to the table; this will lead to positive resolutions.
Our collaborative, cross-disciplinary approach to exploring such challenges distinguishes The Fletcher School from leading professional schools of international affairs. The Global Master of Arts Program (GMAP) takes advantage of today's technology to bring the unique Fletcher experience to international professionals who are unable to enroll in a full-time residency program. We pride ourselves on our interdisciplinary curriculum, our cosmopolitan community of faculty, students and alumni and the dynamic exchange of ideas our community fosters.
GMAP is an intensive, one-year graduate program that combines three two-week residency sessions with Internet-mediated study and discussions to enable mid-career professionals to find better, more innovative solutions to global problems, without having to leave their current positions.
If you are a dedicated professional working in a public, private, multilateral, or nongovernmental organization and want to further your career with a deeper, clearer understanding of international affairs, I encourage you to apply to GMAP. For 75 years, Fletcher graduates have become innovative leaders and problem-solvers worldwide.
We look forward to your joining them.
