THE PARTNERSHIP

The Fletcher School and D-Prize launched this unique social entrepreneurship business plan competition in September 2013 as a way to spotlight global entrepreneurial talent. It brings together the best of Fletcher’s interdisciplinary, holistic problem solving to the world’s most pressing development issues with D-Prize’s venture capitalists who have a track record of finding and funding proven poverty interventions.

“D-Prize believes a problem isn’t solved until the solution is in the hands of those who need it,” notes Paul Youn, co-founder of D-Prize. “We don’t care about shiny new solutions, we fund strong entrepreneurs who will distribute proven solutions and help millions of people.”

About the IBGC

The Fletcher School’s Institute for Business in the Global Context (IBGC) was founded in recognition of the need for a new approach to the study of international business—one that prepares global business leaders with essential "contextual intelligence." Through four core activities—research, dialogue, education, and lab—the Institute provides an interdisciplinary lens through which global markets and the underlying drivers of change can be understood. This is also a forum where original thought leadership, professional education and conversations among peers can be fostered.

About D-Prize

D-Prize is dedicated toward expanding access to poverty-alleviation solutions in the developing world. Many solutions to poverty already exist; the challenge is distributing these solutions to the people who need it most. We tackle this by challenging social entrepreneurs to develop better ways to distribute proven life-enhancing technologies, and then providing crucial funding and support so that these ideas can launch a pilot. D-Prize was started by a team of investors and social enterprise co-founders who are excited to support the world’s next wave of entrepreneurs who will change the world. D-Prize is a tax exempt 501(c)3 organization.
