Each year the OCS organizes informational career events to help students meet employers and alumni working in many of the fields of interest to Fletcher students. Events include career trips to New York and Washington DC as well as local Boston events. Events usually involve employer site visits, industry panels and alumni receptions. Students are responsible for their own travel and accommodations, and typically 100 to 250 students participate in each event.
- Student-Alumni Networking Event
The Student-Alumni Networking Event (SANE) takes place in late November. An evening reception is held at a quaint downtown Boston location overlooking the famed Public Gardens. The event brings together local area alumni and students interested in practicing their networking skills.
- NY Informational Career Trip
The New York Informational Career Trip takes place in early January on the Friday before classes begin. The trip is focused on the UN and ancillary organizations, primarily non-profits and NGOs. A one-day event with alumni panels, alumni lunches, and visits with specific UN groups is followed by an alumni reception to which all New York alumni are invited. This trip is typically preceded on Thursday by a private sector career trip organized by Fletcher's Business Club.
- DC Informational Career Trip
The Washington DC Informational Career Trip takes place in February. The two-day event includes panels, site visits and small-group alumni lunches. Classes are cancelled for both days so that any students interested in attending are available to participate on the trip. The Washington DC Informational Career Trip includes Fletcher's largest alumni gathering outside of the Boston area. The student alumni reception is a lively event with over 500 guests in attendance.
